The Personnel and Training Unit is responsible for all departmental hiring and training. The unit processes all job openings and coordinates written testing, physical agility testing, interviews, background investigations, medical and psychological exams, and final interviews with the Chief of Police. The unit is also responsible for maintaining POST training records and ensuring that all department members meet their ongoing continuing professional training and perishable skills training requirements. The legislative mandated training is listed on the POST website at https://post.ca.gov/legislative-mandated-training, and training UCPD officers receive in the police academy is listed at https://post.ca.gov/regular-basic-course-training-specifications.
